Thoughts On: Alien Sequel...Niell Blomkamp Style

News has just broke regarding 20th Century Fox's decision to approve an Alien sequel. Who do we have to thank for this...Niell Blomkamp (District 9, Elysium). You may remember he had some concept art for said movie end up online. Some big thoughts on this movie...
Also unconfirmed...a Far Cry Blood Dragon connection...

Only If You Get Sigourney Back:
I know she hasn't been confirmed as being onboard with this...that said, if she isn't Ellen Ripley, then no one should be. I would have Fox scrap the whole thing before I watch anyone else take on that role. Plus Blomkamp's concept art has Sigourney in it...

What About Alien 3 And Alien Resurrection?:
That better not be Hicks...
I hope that's just a Halloween Costume...
No fan of the series, or reasonable
person in general, likes either of these movies. That said, if the project does get Ripley as the lead, its safe to assume that it will erase these two movies (which every fan has wanted for a while now), because as we all unfortunately remember, Ripley doesn't make it out of the third movie. Maybe Blomkamp's Alien will start with Ripley and Hicks waking up on the Sulaco from the bad dreams that were Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection.

What About Newt and Bishop?:
The concept art tell us that this movie takes place after Aliens, so that said... How will Blomkamp incorporate Newt and Bishop into the plot? The art gives us no clues, but seeing as how Alien 3 killed off both, would this movie do the same thing?

No Prometheus Connection:
As far as I know there isn't one, which is a good thing. I don't think anyone was happy with that movie (including me), so having Blomkamp's Alien be separate is a great call. Curious though, the concept art does have the ship from Prometheus in it...

So is a new Alien a good idea? Let me put it to you this way, if someone started a petition to get Michael Biehn and Sigourney Weaver back for this...I'd be the first to sign...
