The Star Wars Poster Is Awesome, And I Want One...

The Poster for Star Wars: the Force Awakens was released this morning and it easily lives up to expectations. Here are some thoughts on its contents...

Princess Leia Is in the House:

Not including the Comic-con behind the scenes footage, this is the first time we've seen Princess Leia. To make it all the more awesome she's sporting a weird new hairdo.

Is That A Freaken Death Star?:

That looks a lot like a revamped Death Star to me, complete with a new crazy looking canon. As far as I know, a new
planet killer hasn't been part of the conversation. This definitely raises the stakes of the movies possible plot...because after all, destroying the first and second Death Stars were central to the plot of the original trilogy.

Luke Is STILL Missing:

Could Luke's absence mean he'll have a minimal role in the movie? Possibly, but I don't think so...here's why...

A) Andy Serkis' and Domhnall Gleeson's character's aren't on the poster either, and we know they'll play important roles.

B) Mark Hamil almost died on the set of Episode 8 several weeks ago, so clearly he'll have enough of a presence to warrant a subsequent movie appearance.

C) He's Luke Skywalker...

Daisy Ridley is Super Clearly A More Important Character Than John Boyega, Yet She Doesn't Have The Lightsaber:

Ok we've known this since the D23 poster and the Instagram teaser, but I've been waiting to see how the poster space would be apportioned. It's been made clear that the Skywalker legacy will endure in this new trilogy. That said, considering Ridley's the main character and possibly force sensitive, how does Boyega end up with Anakin's Saber?

This poster is exactly what we need to hold us over until tomorrows trailer release. What did you think? You happy with this poster? Wish it included something else?

UPDATE:

New sneak peak trailers for a trailer tomorrow...

Are you ready for the new trailer? I'm honestly having heart problems waiting for it...
